This season, Once Upon a Time was full of twists and turns. Not only did it throw us for a major loop with the Dark Swan plot, but the show also added a few new characters to its roster. One of the most anticipated, of course, was Scottish actress Amy Manson’s appearance as Merida, from Brave. Just like the fiery Pixar heroine, Manson quite literally made her mark on the show. And if you loved her portrayal just as much as we did, then you’re in luck. I got the chance to talk to Manson and she revealed that Merida’s storyline may not be finished quite yet. Keep reading to see what her favorite scene from this season was and which cast member she thinks could fill her shoes as Merida.

That’s all well and good but the real question needs to be if Arthur and Guinevere are coming back. Merida’s one thing but the seasonal mini-villain and his mind raped wife are a little bit more important at the moment.

Agreed. Also, Merida is tied into Arthur’s story now too. Like she needs to kill him to avenge her father. Or…have her somehow break the sand thing on Guinevere…and then Guinevere kills him. If we just get Merida with no Arthur or Guinevere, then I don’t really want Merida.

The stuff they filmed for 5×11 that was cut was Merida taking Arthur back in handcuffs (and Guinevere going along, presumably no longer mind raped). But now…who knows.

Uhh they better address how Guinevere is no longer mind raped. Like just show us! Deleted scene or not, they have to show us some kind of closure. You can’t spend that much time in Camelot and make such a big deal out of Guinevere basically not being able to think for herself, and then just have Arthur get arrested off screen and not tell us or show us Guinevere’s reaction when she realizes what Arthur did…
Characters have gone off to forgotten character island before….and I get it. It happens. But at least with like Maleficent and Lilly, they showed them trying to reunite and catch up on lost time. Maleficent’s happy ending was finding her daughter. So that was resolved. Now the plot revolving around Lilly possessing all the darkness and what not was lost and will likely remain that way, but at least I can forgive the writers for not following up with Maleficent and Lilly. Barely. But honestly, having an entire arc heavily based on Arthur and Guinevere’s actions and then not even showing us them in the midseason finale of said arc, is unforgivable.
I wonder if she was asked before or after she retweeted those tweets. If it was after… awkward.
I’m trying to not be a conspiracy theorist, but I got the feeling that she did all the RTs and then A and E got on the phone and were like “oh no! totes gonna have you back, real soon too!” And then she did a hasty deletion

And I love a conspiracy theory. 😉 I think one of the people she RT, she also faved one of their tweets too. And don’t most apps ask you to confirm before a RT actually gets sent (the ones I’ve used do that), making it hard to do accidentally?

I’m somewhat hesitant myself, because we know how much the writers change their mind or it ends up being “there wasn’t enough room to fit that into that storyarc after all.” I recall them saying that Will would be more involved in 4B, and that we would find out what happened to Anastasia then. We ended up getting even LESS Will, and STILL don’t know what happened to Anastasia. Another story still on hold is Lily’s search for her father. With Agnes Bruckner now pregnant, they may not get her back for 5B at all, if they did care to tell that story then.
