Look! They’re using non specific language to talk about Red’s “friend” who is Dorothy! (cough friend of Dorothy) Golly! When else do they do that? Right. When they allude to Mulan’s sexuality. Sorry, guys. Still not convinced Mulan is part of the LGBT ship. Still think it’s Red and Dorothy.

If anything that implies that Mulan and Red are together the “friends of Dorothy” and Dorothy’s not part of the couple at all. But we’re pretty positive that’s not true. I still think it’ll be Mulan and Dorothy. Mulan’s stayed back to watch over Dorothy to make sure no one tries to harm her while she’s under her sleeping curse, and Red’s gone off to gather intel.
Good point. Though, with all the S1-Snowing parallels we think they are shoving at us with the LGBT ship, Red going off to find Dorothy/a way to save her makes her the Charming stand in. Doesn’t the PR make it seem like they don’t know where Dorothy is? So can Mulan really be standing guard? Maybe she’s searching Oz while Ruby searches elsewhere.

YES it is DOROTHY AND RED….. Neither of them are DISNEY ICONIC PRINCESSES … they are royalty free fairy tale characters.IN the movie Mulan had a male love interest. … I do not think they would allow a change to the movie’s characterization because an unanticipated reaction by ONCE fans. Mulan was the first strong female character and turning her gay would fly in the face of traditional Chinese culture. Mulan is super popular in the Asian / Chinese Market. I would be very surprised if they did not make a third movie somewhere down the line. Money trumps all other considerations.

They’ve already made Mulan gay or at the very least bi. It would be a stupid decision to not incorporate that. Do you really think it’s a coincidence that they’ve brought Mulan back in the season they’re doing an LGBT relationship? If Mulan isn’t half of the relationship then she has no purpose.

I think it will Red/Dorothy for that reason too. I want them to do what RG suggested about two years ago: incorporate Shang but just make him a woman in disguise just like Mulan was. That fixes the issue to me.

SORRY but I think the reason A&E back off the story line that was promised us is TPTB at Disney told them to cool it …..

The reaction of many of the fans was totally unexpected so instead of having MULAN front and center she was faded into the background…. not everyone saw MULAN as gay or bisexual UNTIL they clued into the reaction of gay fans on TWITTER and the forums. TPTB will always protect the brand.
