I read somewhere (can’t remember where unfortunately) that the whole “tis better to have loved and lost” spiel was never intended for romantic love. It was meant about friendship as in it was better to have known this person as a friend than to have never met them at all. Romantic love wise, heartbroken people tend to live shorter lives so that saying is incorrect.
