I think there were a few factors here that helped with this rebound. The first (and probably biggest) one was that there was no World Series. The second one was that Daylight Savings ended meaning it got darker earlier so people were inside earlier. The final one (which Rainbow already pointed out) was that it didn’t go against NCIS.
Sure. These are likely the biggest reasons for the jump. However, some of the viewers may have watched the sport, and caught up on Once later, only to find themselves bored by the last episode which is why I was surprised.
