Given that this half did not end with Emma getting stabbed, is the vision still to come to pass? Is there any stopping it now that Gideon is back and revealed to be under the hood? If the vision is still to happen, then how do we explain where Regina is and, moreover, why Gideon wants to destroy Emma?

Good questions.  I think they will need to still play out the scene.  The question is how Emma and Regina end up getting back from the dream world now that they wasted the magic bean. Maybe the stabbing scene happens in the dream world? I have no idea why Gideon wants to kill Emma unless he is the villain to Emma’s savior now that Regina is no longer a villain? Maybe the Dark Fairy wants to maintain the balance between good and evil?

Some good points. Emma is definitely lacking a villain, especially now that EQ is caged up as a snake. I think your idea of trying to maintain a balance of good and evil is great. I also think (going back to the idea I had a few days ago) that maybe the sword will kill the darkness inside of Emma to help the balance of light and dark be restored (or to help her perform a huge task).

which theoretically should not be there since Snowing cast out all her darkness when she was a fetus in the womb?

I am trying to remember…. In the vision who was near by again? No Regina. It was Hook, Henry, was it both of Emma’s parents? Because if so, that means the curse has to be broken first.

Yes to both of Emma’s parents. But when they went under the curse Emma reminded the audience that the Oracle had told her things could change.

    Dark One Curse?

Still may have some remnants in there.

Past darkness leave a mark. Regina’s heart is an example. Couldn’t quite tell but Snow’s/Snowing’s heart might be another.

I think my theory is sound. And the writers don’t follow their own rules much anymore so if Snow’s heart was meant to be healed and Regina’s not then it doesn’t surprise me.

Anyway, I have sort of (but not completely) changed my mind after watching the previous episode. It seems that Emma’s new nemesis is Gideon (and maybe Jafar later on) rather than the queen, so perhaps the sword can only be used by the hero to kill their  villain or vice versa. In which case, Rumple had the sword the whole time and it could have been very useful in getting rid past villains, such as Pan *fume*

Or maybe the old savior needs to die for a new one to appear.
