Because to me it seems like the only thing he cares solely about himself and what he can loose from telling it.

The promo focuses on him maybe losing Emma, not the guilt he feels over taking another life. Just like his mementos he keeps from previous kills (creepy!)–they are to remind him not to lose his “good nature” not because he cares that he killed people
