GENERAL: This episode needed less Jasmine/Jafar/Aladdin nonsense and more drunk Snow making random bets with Vikings. WOW, guys. What *was* this? It’s not morally bad like some others and I’m not even all that bothered by the predictable CS storyline resolution; but it’s just BAD. Like poorly written. Ooof.

    RATING: 5/10

    LIKED

    –Aesop’s Tables LOL!

–Unlike like 95% of Emma’s outfits this year, I actually like her red plaid jacket.

–“They are supposedly artisinal. Which I think means STRONG.” LOL, drunk fun loving Snow is the best.

–“Why is this rug flying!” “It’s a carpet. A magic carpet.” “It’s clearly a rug.”

–“Do you ever not tattle?” LOL

    –“Son of a fish!”

    MIXED

–“I was hoping I wouldn’t have to tell you.” Does Emma mean she didn’t want to tell Charming, full stop, but her conscious got the better of her? Or does Emma mean that she was hoping Hook would go and tell Charming?

–Llamas in the desert had me rolling off the couch. Talk about a double take!

–Where exactly is Hangman’s Island in relation to the EF? Why are Ariel and Eric there and not in his, y’know, kingdom? It was probably destroyed but why aren’t they rebuilding?

–Did I miss something? How did Jafar know about Eric and Ariel, enough to fool Ariel at least?

–How did Jafar’s lamp get to Ariel’s cabin from Wonderland? How did Jafar break his genie curse?!

–I get that Emma would be sad but why isn’t she even more angry? Even a little bit? Hook LEFT.

    DISLIKED

–Kraken’s Blood to make a portal. Oh please. End this incessant need to create new plot devices!

–“Didn’t you hear the Captain. We have no Kraken’s Blood!” Really, that line tho.

–“Come on, Princess. How many times are you go to avoid kissing me?” Dude, back off. If she doesn’t want to kiss you, then she doesn’t have to kiss you. If she wants to, she will. If she’s torn over if she does or not, give her SPACE. This is not a difficult concept.

–The parallels being drawn between Jasmine and Hook and how they both feel guilty over their crimes so there they don’t deserve love. Okay, but…Jasmine refused to marry a bad guy; Hook killed people. There’s a very clear difference here.

–Wasn’t it a bracelet that let Ariel walk? Not a necklace? Continuity alert!

–Wow the CGI of the flight over Agrabah coupled with the super cheesy dialogue was baaaaaad. Like something you see at 3am in a C-level movie on SyFy.

–Pretty sure that’s not actually Jafar’s lamp/bottle from Wonderland!

–So the city is inside the never before seen ring and Jasmine used a vial of red powder to turn Jafar into a screaming staff? I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page here cause WOWZA.

–A shellphone. Get away from me, show.

–Tears of a Savior that can interrupt the shellphone! STOP THIS. STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

    6/10

I did not care for Alladdin, Jasmin and Jafar …. story was boring … not invested in it …
Did enjoy seeing ARIEL … Was that a different actor as PRINCE ERIC? Although it was funny it turned out to be a hungry Jafar.

    .

I was getting into SNOW, REGINA and Emma on a night on the town.
GIDEON needs to be regress back to being a baby …. his behavior is atrocious… he could have just asked EMMA for help … she would have given it to him.

This episode was mostly complete filler.  It was okay, I give it a 6/10

    Liked:

Drunk Snow was awesome, who could know that uptight Snow could let loose

Regina’s line about always tattling was one of the best lines ever.  By the way I loved her hair style this episode

I liked the ladies night out to bash guys over a bad breakup

I thought David’s reactions were legit and completely in character.  He is not saying he will never forgive Hook but that he has every right to be angry especially since Emma was the one to tell him instead of Hook

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to tell you.” Does Emma mean she didn’t want to tell Charming, full stop, but her conscious got the better of her? Or does Emma mean that she was hoping Hook would go and tell Charming?

I think she meant that she had to tell him instead of Hook I am giving Emma some credit here

Gideon asking (OK threatening) Emma for help in defeating the black fairy.  Why wouldn’t Emma help defeat her?

    Mixed:

I never felt the chemistry between Aladdin and Jasmine and still don’t.  He seems like a complaining toddler and she is a nagging mother

I think the show was going for the comparison between Jasmine and Hook but I got Hook and Aladdin.  Aladdin was acting like a immature adolescent child most of the episode (when will we get there, I’m tired, I’m hungry) and Hook was acting like an immature adolescent angry child most of the episode.  Hook don’t go screaming at everyone because you didn’t get your way, how about calmly problem solving and then after we act like a complete jerk how about apologizing. (still same old Hook)

    Disliked:

    Cracken’s Blood opens portals?  Really!

Too much Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar, and Ariel they bring nothing to our current plot

    Mermaid phone device? Really!

This episode was utter trash. I’m starting with my dislikes first because I’m sure they will outnumber my likes.

    DISLIKED:

    – What the literal heck is the jafar storyline anyway? I have SO many questions. WHY can he just free himself from being a genie. Why is he in a different bottle? How did Ariel find him and how was he never released? You mean she NEVER opened the bottle to see what was inside? Ugh.

    – Child, this CS stuff is trash. I can’t. Next.

    – So much exposition and excessive dialog.

    – Okay: WHY DOES ARIEL NEED A MAGIC NECKLACE TO HAVE LEGS????? SHE HAD A BRACELET THAT GAVE HER LEGS!!!!! Now I thought to myself, well this probably takes place before Regina gave her the bracelet, which I’m sure the flashbacks do, but ariel is still wearing it in present day. And correct me if I’m wrong but she isn’t wearing the bracelet. Just…what???

    – Congrads OUAT. You just added another POC, gave him one episode appearance, made him the bad guy, and made him a white person in disguise. Again. He can now join the ranks of all the other thrown aside POC characters  -_______-

    – Emma is simply terrible, whiny, and weak, and I hate it.

    – Nothing makes sense. How does savior tear prevent Emma from hearing a message? Magic that protects the entire city of Agrabah…from what exactly? Because I’m certain Jafar was already terrorizing it, no?

    LIKED:

    – Ariel was here.

    – Turning people into wooden staffs. Love it. Its terrifying.

    – Snow challenging the Vikings.

    – Aesop was lovely to look at :3

    – “Do you always tattle” xD loved it

    – “Son of a fish!” <— this joke is so beneath us and yet…. 😛

    6/10 m

So boring. Too much Hook and crew. And the CGI…ugh. Way too much time spent with a nasty CGI background and cheap looking sets.

The shell-phone was funny, though. ”Aesop’s Tables” too lol

Aladdin and Jasmine…just can’t feel chemistry. sorry.

And how on earth or in any realm did Jafar end up in that lamp? I guess it is not important but still, I’m curious.

I wish Gideon had asked Emma nicely to defeat (maybe not kill, but there might be no choice there) the Black Fairy. Really show, there was no need for Gideon carry on like that, all menancing while asking Emma to do something that is for the greater good, away. Had he asked nicely, maybe the answer would be a straight-forward ”yes”.

    the never before seen ring

What are you talking about, she was given that ring on the day she was born and she’s worn it every single day since. 😛

    Wow…I just can’t even…wow! This just wasn’t a good episode…like it was just okay.

    Rating: 5.5/10

    Liked:

Drunk Snow was the best highlight.

    Ladies Night.

The little Rumpleness seen in Gideon tonight! A Stilskin Man always knows how to strike up a deal.

    Mixed:

Aladdin and Jasmine just really lost me here, felt nothing! I think the Aladdin Storyline could have been so much better if Adam and Eddy had actually put some effort into it. It just came across as, “let’s hurry up and do this” rather than needed for Storytelling. Neat wrap up to their storyline, but nothing spectacular.

Why was Ariel even there?! No seriously, was she just there to remind the audience that her character on the show exists or something?

    Disliked:

It’s not that most of it was disliked…it’s just most of the episode was boring.

    A “shell-phone”….really….I’m just, I’m done!

Kraken…just no more krakens please. And now all of a sudden, Kraken’s blood opens portals…like…since when?! How? Why?!!!

    Liked:

“The kraken destroyed our starboard propellor.” Um, Captain? The Nautilus only has one, and it’s in the middle.

That was a lake (the surface was partly iced over, and there were trees). What other lake do we know about that has a giant squid?

Henry pretending to listen to music while Emma purges Hook’s stuff from the house (Henry has his earbuds in backwards).

Ariel doesn’t know what “heights” are. That makes sense.

Budget “camels”. Though maybe that’s a nod to The Emperor’s New Groove. Just how many Disney movies were in this episode?

If only Hook and Ariel had watched Wonderland, they would have known that sorcerors still have their magic when turned into staffs, and that the person holding the staff can use the magic. Since Jafar could travel between realms…

This episode was a complete mess.  They zipped all over the shop, which I am sure some viewers found confusing.  I really don’t understand the point of them introducing Aladdin and Jasmine at all?  What have they brought to the plot, other than wishes, that they couldn’t have got in some other way? How has Aladdin been integral to expanding the Savior mythology?

When will they learn that the show works better when it is less convoluted, with the occasional twist, and more focus on character rather than plot? We want to see these characters living their lives in a way that feels real, despite the fact that they are from a magical land.
