Zelena sacrificed her magic to turn off the diamonds in the mines. Now that she’s without magic what is next for Zelena? Can she ever get it back? Is it better if she doesn’t have it at all?

I thought this was a HUGE sacrifice.  I think there is a definite parallel to how Zelena sees magic and how Rumple sees magic.  They use it to feel powerful, to protect themselves and the ones they love, and to feel special. So it will be interesting to see what Zelena will do now that she does not have magic, if she will try and somehow  get it back (maybe the necklace in Regina’s vault), and how useful she will feel without it.  She is going to need some major support from Regina and the other heroes and I am not sure she will get it.  I think at least to the Charmings and CS Zelena is only acceptable when she is useful and now that she does  not have magic what will her role be?

I agree it’s a big move and it’s keeping with traditions that the villain gives up something vital to themselves as part of atonement (life, Henry, ship, magic). But you raise a really good point, namely

now that she does  not have magic what will her role be?

What do we do with her now?

yeah I’m really at a loss for whats next for Zelena….

    Incoming Nitpick:

(While I think her sacrifice was huge for the reasons stated above, I’m still confused: So…is she not magical anymore in the sense that she is completely incapable of doing magic or that she doesn’t have her innate ability of magic? Because I’m pretty positive magic was something people could learn. Just…just pointing that out. Zelena seems really knowledgeable in magic and trained by the Dark One. I don’t see why sucking out her innate ability would mean she is completely magic-less now. Weaker, sure.)

I like that the big sacrifice wasn’t death for a change. I can’t help but think that both the promo and the episode itself wanted to intentionally make us think that Zelena was about to die. Especially once Zelena told Regina to look after baby Robin, no matter what happens to her.

If there is a season 7, and Zelena is in it, then I guess she will find a way to get her magic back and thus remain a compelling character. Otherwise, she might be one the deaths in the Final Battle.

Based off this photo released today…I think Zelena’s magicless is only temporary.
