Sooo Maui’s hook is the MacGuffin of the week. Wanna bet they’re gonna remove Maui from it altogether and just use it as a visual representation of the movie Moana with none of the culture or context?
To be fair, the demigod Maui and his hook are a part of preexisting mythology. Moana just borrowed them. So theoretically they could also be taking ideas from that original mythology:
