Another week, another episode! What were your favorite and least favorite moments of this week’s episode “Breadcrumbs”?
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 6, 2018 at 9:26 pm #346552AKAParticipantWas not feeling this one, I found the flashbacks pretty darn boring and cheesy. I give it a 5/10
Liked:
Lucy stating to Zelena yeah you are not very good around kids. That was probably her best line of the series.
Tilly and Margo with a T: I think these two are incredibly cute together and really play off each other well.
Margot and Zelena: I thought there moments together were good. I liked how Tilly got Margot to see the other side of the coin and to feel some empathy towards her mom.
Rumple and Henry: I liked how Rumple was trying to be a good grandpa to Henry. Let’s face it neither one of them has been very close to each other for a long time. Henry even states it in the flashback my grandparents are Prince Charming and Snow White. He never even mentions his father’s side of the family which would be Rumple and Belle. This is not the first time this has happened either, Henry for the most part has disassociated himself from Rumple since he stopped working in his shop right after his dad died. Rumple on his side has totally written Henry off since season 4 also. It just seems that once Bae died the two of them should have been closer knowing that they were all that they had left of Bae but instead after the shop incident they both totally forgot they were related. I believe it was done so the OUAT did not have to talk about Bae’s death and how it effected both Rumple and Henry except in a very small and superficial way. As a result we got a very sad and frustrating relationship between these two. For example in Season 5 when they went to the underworld both Henry and Rumple wanted to look for Bae and yet did not even discuss their common interest together, they both went their separate ways looking for the same person. Anyway I think it is nice how they are at least trying to address this. I thought it was very sweet that Rumple stated that Henry was his favorite character not because he was a little kid full of light and hope but he was a determined little kid willing to fight for both the light and hope.
Disliked/Mixed
All of the flashbacks: It was boring and cheesy and I really disliked all of it. Can’t think of a nice thing to say
Henry and Jacinda: Really writers no one is feeling it, so stop wasting time on their relationship.
Hansel being the killer is fine and apparently Zelena is next. I guess this was okay and moved this plot line along, I just don’t know how this is relevant to wrapping up the series. I thought Henry and Nick did a good job with this scene and I was actually a little worried for Henry.
April 6, 2018 at 10:48 pm #346555RumplesGirlKeymasterGENERAL: How is it that the writers can write something so compelling and thoughtful and fun as Tilly and Margot while also writing something so dull as Henry and Hook’s side adventure to “find Henry’s story.” Everything that is plot plot plot about this show just drains the life from it; but when there are characters that the writers obviously feel a connection to, it’s actually watchable.
Overall, this episode simply exists. Apart from some cutie Tilly and Margot, it’s just there.
6/10
LIKED
–Tilly and Margot are gold. Like 100% shipable.
–“I definitely smell like pork. Let’s never do that again.”
–“I think you’re a lot like your namesake. He was my favorite character.” The writers have butchered the Henry/Rumple grandson/grandpa dynamic over the years but every now and then it shines through and you’re reminded that when Rumple looks at Henry, he must see Baelfire clinging to hope and belief that his papa could change.
–“Margot with a T” “Targo?”
MIXED
–Henry lamenting that he doesn’t want to be just someone in another story is a cool idea but I also feel like it’s not fully fleshed out. Everyone is just someone in another’s story. This idea that your story has to be independent or more important than another person’s is a weird stance for Henry–the son of the Savior–to take. The problem is that Henry comes across a little whiny about this whole “needing to be someone special” issue.
–Also, it’s so awkward when Henry says stuff like “I’m out here to find my story.” People do not talk like this!
DISLIKED
–“My grandparents are Snow White and Prince Charming.” Also…other people.
–I really don’t understand why characters like Cinderella and Rapunzel are wholly different from their counterparts in the EF 1.0 but characters like Smee and Blackbeard are played by the same actors and even act the same (apart from availability)
–“I’ve never seen a storm like this.” “No captain alive could steer us out of this.” The constant superlative talk on OUAT is annoying.
–“Do you know how to sail?” “The other you taught me!” Actually, Henry, Neal taught you first but okay.
–I honestly couldn’t care less about Henry and Jacinda/Ella.
–The boat in the storm scenes feel like a bad high school production of the Tempest.
–“How do you set a trap for Hansel? Look for breadcrumbs?” camera flashes to Jack’s burn scars
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 6, 2018 at 11:08 pm #346557nonnieParticipantHas Jack/ Hansel been awake the entire time? And Jack was the name in EF … did he not have a different name in HH? Tom or something like that and is he the fake father to Lucy?
.
.
The stories are so convoluted that I can no longer keep the details straight.N

I’m totally boarding this MadArcher Ship! None of my OUAT Ships have ever worked in the past, so this is my last chance at a victory, lol! It’s amazing that Alice and Robyn’s love story outdoes the “supposedly centric” love story! In short, they were the second highlight of the night for me.
Rumple and Henry’s scene was absolutely interesting to see and really well done, especially considering I can’t remember these two shared a moment since Season 4 when Henry was working in Gold’s shop. So seeing how much faith Rumple has in his grandson and seeing the true hero potential was the highlight of the night for me.
That grandaunt and grandniece scene with Zelena and Lucy….yep, it touched me.
Mixed:
Sooooooo….why is Margot so angry with Zelena? I still don’t really get it, is it because she feels like Zelena’s wasting her time or something?
Disliked:
Yeah….I could’ve dealt without the whole flashback sequence. It just seemed unnecessary and doesn’t change my opinion on anything concerning Henry’s relationship to Jacinda.
Hmmmmm…..you know what…..Nick is a wasted character. Like there was something they could’ve done with him, I’m not sure what, but there was potential….but to reduce him to a vengeful witch hunter whose more than likely to die in the next episode…..I just feel like it’s such a waste.

Yeah I completely agree. Nick/Jack was introduced as Henry’s best friend the first person he met coming to this new EF. Give us flashbacks on how they met and the adventures they went on together before Henry met Ella. Let us get to know the character before reducing him to a secondary villain instead of all these unnecessary sub plots they sent us on.
Liked
Rumple saying that Henry is his favorite character. Henry had better remember that when he wakes up and also remember that Rumple is his other Grandpa.
Margo with a T and Tilly’s conversation
Disliked
Margo with a T on her own
All of the flashbacks I don’t really understand Henry trying to manufacture a happy ending for himself. Snow and Charming didn’t always want an adventure it just sort of happened to them naturally, and it was happening naturally for Henry as well. He’s already on an adventure, Cinderella left him her slipper, he went to Wonderland and almost got poisoned only for his true love to save him. That’s all part of HIS story there was no need for him to try to manufacture a happy ending. I mean ok I know that that was the lesson he ended up learning anyway but it was a lesson that didn’t really need learning he’s a fairytale writer and he grew up in Storybrooke.
Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp

His fake name in HH is Nick Branson.

Right; I don’t really get why Henry keeps thinking he doesn’t have a story/adventure. He’s had tons. How many other 10 yr olds get kidnapped by Peter Pan’s minions and almost have their heart taken to fuel magic??
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 7, 2018 at 9:39 am #346565RumplesGirlKeymasterAlso, how is Hansel/Jack/Nick/The Candy Killer awake?? Rapunzel was awake by Ivy’s design; Ivy was awake because it was sort of her curse, same with Gothel. Regina woke up much later as did Rumple. But there’s neither rhyme nor reason for why Jack/Nick/Hansel/The Candy Killer is awake.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 7, 2018 at 11:26 am #346570hjbauParticipantSeriously, what in the world? The scene with Zelena and Lucy. Like how does that exist?
They are still stating the fake idea that real Hook taught Henry how to steer a boat instead of Neal. Though, the flashbacks are always pointless and rarely interesting on this show, even on the first show.
The serial killer rings being mentioned again. Save us from that.
Rumpel was not being grandfathery. I didn’t really think that was going to happen. At least, they had a scene though.
This episode just shows the mistakes the show made, with Henry and his fake memories and with waiting so long to make Henry involved in the action with the book and the story. All the stuff that is happening now just highlights the show’s mistakes.
April 7, 2018 at 11:37 am #346571hjbauParticipantI completely agree about the dialogue. People do not talk the way the characters on this show talk. In the first seasons, they at least tried to make the characters talk like real people most of the time. They gave up on that a long time ago. People don’t think like that. They don’t talk like that. It is just a complete detriment to the show. It would be much better if they were real people in fairytaleland. Instead, they just sound crazy and stupid and fake and it pulls you completely out of the story.
