It turns out that Dark One Rumple didn’t want the dagger, but wanted the Author’s Pen in order to make Henry write the Guardian out of existence and prevent Rumple’s undoing.

How can the family fix this? Can they rewrite the Guardian back in? How does one defeat Dark One Rumple?

I honestly think it is going to have to be a we are both thing.  That has been the theme since the very beginning and makes the most sense and has the most consistency.  Even Evil Queen Regina had her heart reemerged with Regina’s in a moment of love over hate.  How many times have we heard on this show that the villains need to accept the darkness that is part of them, wish realm Rumple is just Rumple’s darkness.  I know they are supposed to be two separate people but they made it seem on tonight’s episode that their fates were interconnected  which to me means that they are in part one.

I agree. The fact that the destruction of the Dark One Dagger means the Wish Realm Rumple also ends totally sells that point. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have our Rumple telling (through helpful flashbacks!) Dark One Rumple about his redemption with both Belle and Bae.

My only stipulation, though, would be that it has to be about both Belle and Nealfire. I’m really tired of them hammering Rumple wanting to get back to Belle and completely ignoring the Nealfire sized hole in the room (something the writers have successfully been doing for 4 years)

Agreed, Rumple’s  whole story began with Bae and should end with him.

So, what happened when Emma was the Dark One and the dagger was destroyed temporarily after Dark Hook was killed?  Was Wish Realm Rumple without his powers for that brief time?  Or is this something we aren’t supposed to question.

Yes I think this is the point where Rumple wold tell us our questions are pointless.

Rumple’s story has been the saddest one in Once IMO. People say Regina has lost everything, but she’s had Henry and far more friends than she probably deserved even before she actually started to change her ways.

Rumple has literally lost everyone who ever cared about him (certainly Henry, Emma and The Charmings have never cared about him) and his only hope now is to die and maybe be reunited with Baelfire and Belle in the Once afterlife. It’s so sad!

Where is Gideon anyway? I didn’t like his storyline at all, but you’d think he deserves at the very least a mention. Maybe he’s died offscreen and will show up in the big Stiltskin afterlife reunion scene?

Who knows?? Much like his older brother, Gideon is an elephant sized hole in the narrative that I hard side-eye every single time I’m reminded that he should be here doing something
