Just had a thought. What if the gold light wasn’t for Rumple but was for Malcolm/Pan? When the shadow took Pan to skull rock the very first time, the skulls were GOLD and the sand in the timer was GOLD. What if the golden light is what would have happened upon Pan’s death? Pan was dying anyway, Rumple just speeded up the process.
