Just throwing this out there.
We know TLK doesn’t necessarily have to be between love interests.
It can be between parent/child as was the case with Emma and Henry and the Dark Curse.
Rumplestiltskin hated his father, but, deep down, he truly loved him.
They made a point of having Rumple kiss Malcolm before he stabbed him. Could be that TLK broke the DO curse because it was given during the sacrifice?
TLK when it comes to the DO Curse may have nothing to do with Belle at all.
Just a thought.

I think Emma’s kiss is different from other TLKs.  Emma is magic, she is a product of TL and The Saviour,  thus her kisses produce magic without the recipient having to be her TL.  Graham is proof of that.

As for Pan & Rumple.  I don’t see Rumple’s kiss as being TLK.  Malcolm showed no remorse for any of the things he had done.  Rumple held no love for him.   I think Rumple gave him The EF’s  Mafioso Kiss of Death.

There has to be a good reason why the DO’s curse didn’t break after he sacrificed himself, after all, there is no greater love than to give up one’s life for another.
