I’m thinking the person whom Lana confides in is actually Snow White.
The article says: “In addition to letting Snow help her grieve, Parrilla reveals that Regina will also open up to another character.”
And now that this bug is in my brain and scurrying around, I need to elaborate on the idea that it’s Henry…
It will suck and be really sad if he doesn’t get his memories back and doesn’t know that Regina is his mother, but at the same time, it’s understandable that they’d do that, because it was Regina’s ultimate sacrifice to give him up, and the significance of that gesture on her part gets negated if he suddenly remembers her and she gets him back again.
Perhaps, because he doesn’t remember who she is, she’ll be able to honestly open up to him in a way that she never was able to before, and through those interactions, he’ll give her hope and inspire her to do and be better, and he’ll come to genuinely care about her. That could build up to a moment where they have a real emotional connection and that will be what breaks the Curse, and gets Henry his memories back.
Then he’d have the memories of his mother from the first 11 years of his life, plus memories of these more recent interactions, which will ultimately lead to them having a deeper connection than they ever have before.
This may or may not be my new official headcanon.
