Catching up with all your posts!!! Squeeling at all the Neal EF screenshots! Gah! I couldn’t even concentrate at work today.
I’ve been able to do a re-watch of the episode. That feeling of dread we were all experiencing over 3 months washed away in an instant! I can’t believe the media hyped up CS so much because it’s seems different then what I was interpreting. Although I keep hearing it was different from what they saw from the screener. Can anyone point out the differences??? Where was the Hook/Charming bonding that I keep hearing about? All I saw was Hook going off solo while Charming was ready to accept Hook into the group? and saying “Here I thought you changed.” Where was the bromance? Or was that it?
Despite seeing mainly Emma and Hook together I think it actually strengthens SF even more. There are just sooo many examples of Emma’s dream for some normality in her life. She was happy, she was content, she had her son, she had a job she liked doing, she had a great apartment (which btw that kind of real estate in Manhattan is at least $500,000, Wow Emma brings in mucho dinero!), the only thing missing was a partner that she can share that with. She saw in Walsh the potential family man that could fit her ideal dream. She even said she loved him and that the 8 months she dated him were real to her, false memories or not. And to be honest Walsh is not exactly smoldering sexy, but he was still a good looking and sweet guy, willing to wait for Emma, help Henry with his homework, can babysit and be a good father figure. These were all the things Emma was looking for in a man and it was represented in Walsh. She almost got engaged to him and even Henry was rooting for him.
What Walsh represents is also shown in Neal. And Neal perfectly fits the mold that Emma wants so badly in her life. And an important thing to note is that he can also deal with the crazy FTL without Emma having to explain her magical issues, because let’s face it she’s always going to have to deal with some crazy in her life. Neal understands our world and FTL more than anyone. He can play video games with Henry one moment and grab a sword and jump into action the next! LOL Just the thought of that scenario makes me laugh, but its true!
(So yeah people can stop hating on Neal for moving on with Tamara because Emma did the same thing, and she confirmed that she liked it and wanted something good after feeling alone for a long time, because she thought she found an ideal man. But it was not meant to be with Walsh. Just like it was not meant to be with Neal and Tamara. Also Emma moved on extremely quickly from Walsh, a guy she supposedly said she loved like 5 minutes ago. Just like Neal moved on from Tamara quickly after she SHOT him. Would’ve liked some more shock reaction from Emma but then again I suspect it was to move the story forward. Just a minor nitpick.)
It was so great to see the old Emma. Her scenes with Henry were wonderful. And they’ve not completely butchered Hook’s pirate persona. Hook was awesome! He had his sass back, his charm, and his swagger. Although his obsession with Emma is a bit much, I have to say. Every scene with them together shows how CS will not work in the long run, however nice it is right now, it is not what Emma longs for and dreams about for her future.
Contrasting wants from Emma and Hook:
Hook: “Frankly I was bored I had a life to get back to, a pirate’s life.”
Emma: “You know what I was yesterday? A mother. Until you showed up and started poking holes into what I thought was real. It was like waking up from a dream. A really good dream.”
This scene between them pretty much cements it for me. Although I do feel bad for Hook because he shows more care towards Emma, but he doesn’t really know what Emma truly wants. He knows her tendencies like you would know with your best friend, but her ultimate goal is not on par with his (at least not that we’ve seen so far) As we’ve been saying all along he’s a man of adventure. This was why Milah perfectly fitted the role of his ideal woman and why he was so in love with her. Milah dreamed of going far away, gave up being a domestic housewife and ran off on an adventure, because that’s what she wanted even before she met Hook from the drawings she did. It’s a shame because I really don’t want Hook to change completely for Emma, because that’s his personality, he likes having fun and adventures. Just like in real life, some like being on the road and some like to stay put. It’s not wrong to want those things. But the most important thing is that you have someone that can share the same dream as you. To me Hook and Emma just don’t having anything besides physical attraction. Not trying to bash, just putting it into perspective. I would like to see Hook with someone he’s more compatible with. *cough* fanon Hook/Tink *cough*
PS: I’m still gushing over Neal and Belle’s bonding moment. And then seeing Robin reunited with them both! *Dissolves into a puddle of feels!* that was my fav scene!!!* Robin and Neal almost look like brothers. Both thieves, both survivors, both fathers, both good natured. If only Jamie Chung didn’t have another show to work on, she would’ve been there as well. We would have some great reunion with Mulan/Neal and Mulan/Belle. And they can all be an awesome quartet team! And who’s says Neal and Belle aren’t relevant? They have so many connections with other characters on the show! ABC promo dept can take a hike as far as I’m concerned! 🙂
