And of course she is wearing the plaid pants when she is going to NEAL’S apartment. And if I remember right, she’s wearing a black sweater and a red coat–which is a reversal of her Manhattan outfit (black coat, red scarf, black and white stripped shirt).
In other words, she is subconsciously representing her time with Neal, even after Manhattan, which she no longer remembers. But like the nervous tick Mick found, and the “perhaps you loved another man in the life you lost” line she feels that something is just outside of her knowledge. Lurking around the corner she can feel that something is off–that she loves Neal and always has
