Yup. I agree as well. Basically Evil is what makes the story lines move and keeps the audiences tuning in.
We can also identify with smart villainy and live vicariously through intelligently scripted wickedness while trying to live actual good lives ourselves. It is mostly harder for a good heart to maintain it’s goodness and thus, its strength, than it is for an evil heart to do things without impunity. It is often an underappreciated strength. Goodness is not always easily dramatized which can at times seem rather boring, but not really *stupid*.
On the other hand…(grin) sometimes the really good to the soul characters have made some dumb to the bone moves, and likewise, the bad/rotten seeds have moments of shining smart goodness.
They all kind of meld in the middle. Keeps us all on our *viewer* toes. What is so irresistible about OUAT is the blending of personal layers of Good and Not so Good :), dumb and smart.
