Short answer is yes. All magic comes with a price, even if it is done in the name of good.
The question for me is not will Emma but what will Emma have to pay.
And this is where her archetype comes into play: The Savior. I’ve always believed that at some point Emma will either literally die or metaphorically die. But don’t worry! She’ll come back. Saviors always do (Buffy, Harry Potter…) And outside of popular culture, it’s a big part of the myth of the hero or monomyth as laid out (probably most famously) by Joseph Campbell.
