Yeah RG. I really think the ONLY thing that can salvage that is –

1) On behalf of the writers, if they have lied about permanent death in order to *actually* surprise their fans for once. I can’t really blame them for wanting to do that, with this fanbase that knows *everything.* Or, if they are bring him back in 321/322 and someone else dies permanent death, fulfilling the spoiiler of doom, and they semantic their way out of Neal’s death. (*cough*”It’s Baelfire again”*cough*)

2) If they make this death be about character development for Emma, where her dang walls are SO high that it takes searing loss to strip them down. In order for her to realize what Neal really, really meant to her she had to lose him (again) and get her wish – they would have to parallel it with echo cave. “I said it would be easier to face the pain of losing you than to deal with the pain of our relationship, but I was wrong. There is no pain greater than knowing you’re gone forever.” *sob* Given the characterization at the moment, it would require them saying she was unemotional NOW because she was powering through with the one-track mind of defeating the WWW – and THEN having her break down and “deal” once the WWW was defeated – and THEN react whenever he returned. Eh, we have four episodes, probably not going to happen. IF they did that, then I could buy it was for story reasons.
