Baelfire and Rumplestiltskin’s relationship has been one of the most captivating stories for me ever since “Desperate Souls,” so I also wanted more closure. The writers not letting Rumple attend the funeral of his beloved son, his motivation for everything he did the past 2.5 seasons, is absurd. Now what is Rumple going to do? While I want Rumple to go on and be happy now, by killing off Neal to bring back Rumple, I have to wonder where does Rumple go from here? Rumple has been reduced to a prisoner of the Wicked Witch who is used like a weapon against others. He’s become a puppet, rather than a puppet master. I’m saddened by this turn of events, and I dislike seeing “Rumple Bumple” as he called himself. Now what? He’ll eventually escape from the clutches of Zelena, but what is he going to do after he finally defeats her? I suppose if time is reversed and everyone returns to an AU version of the EF by end of S3 that Rumple will simply go back to being the Dark One. Will he have to seek out Baelfire again, assuming Bae is even alive in Neverland or New York? There is a lack of creativity now for Rumple’s character development that I’m struggling to see why bring Rumple back at all (as much as I love him). He willingly chose sacrifice, and now the reason for his sacrifice is forfeit.
