I have no idea who said this originally, but it is one of those quotations I found on a friend’s FB page.
Never chase love, affection or attention. If it isn’t given freely by another person, it isn’t worth having.
It also reminds me of what Will said to Anastasia when Jafar had changed the laws of magic to make her think she loved Jafar. What Ana felt was forced upon her by Jafar, but it was a pale imitation of the real love that Ana and Will had for one anther:
Will: I know what you feel for Jafar seems real to you.
Ana: It is real!
Will: It’s a trick! A one-sided mind game. You had real love once, and you know it’s not that simple.
Ana: It can be.
Will: Love is messy. It means arguing and making up and laughing and crying and struggling. And sometimes, it doesn’t seem worth it, but it is. In the end, when you’re in love, no matter what happens, you forgive each other. I forgive you, Ana, for what you did to me, because I love you. And if there’s any part of you that has a shred of love left for me, then please, help us.
Ana: Really lovely words, but that’s all they are. I know what I feel!
Will: What you feel is a curse! Jafar did this to you.
Ana: If what I feel isn’t love, then what is?
Will: This [reaches through a magic triangular barrier and gives her True Love’s Kiss, breaking her enchantment]
Ana and Will’s love was the real thing because it had been freely given. They forgave one another despite the pain they’d been through. Will’s speech about what real love is so beautiful. It gives me hope that the writers do in fact know the difference between forced loved and love freely given.
Interesting note: the barrier in which Will has been imprisoned looks like the triangle that was imprinted upon Neal’s hand.

The triangle symbol was very evident in 3×20 at the meeting of the witches of Oz (aka the “heart of Oz”):

I’m also going to throw something else out there, which may or may not have any relevance to 3×21. In 3×15, Neal said to Lumiere:
“Unless you want to spend the rest of eternity under a snow drift, you’d better start talking.”
“Snow Drifts” is the title of 3×21. I have no idea what it means, if anything, but it seemed kind of relevant to this episode title.
