Rumple killed a woman who abused him for a year (or at least several months), ordered him to kill Belle, and was at least partly responsible for the death of his son. Just for example. I know it’s not a good excuse, but I just can’t hold this COMPLETELY against him (him lying to Belle is what bugs me more). And I don’t care if Zelena was defenseless. If that makes me a bad person, then so be it.. but Imo it would have been ooc of him not to go after her, and I honestly think that Belle is thinking Rumple is far more noble than he can be at this point. Even Rumple himself still thinks he is a monster.
I agree that it’s going to require a big gesture from Rumple for him to be FULLY forgiven by Belle, and as I said earlier, I believe this will have a good payoff. I don’t think this will be just swept under the rug.
