I was looking through posts on tumblr about Jen attending the Monte Carlo TV festival and during the press conference, she said that the last two episodes of season three (the two part finale) were her favorite and generally, Jen says that about episodes that are good for her character. It just reminds me how the word good has been used this past season. Emma kissed Hook in Neverland because she was feeling good when Hook told her that he would think of her everyday …she replied good. Henry said something in NY Serenade; that Emma needed to accept things that were good. And Emma didn’t think lunch with Neal qualified as a good moment. It goes back to the point that Jen knows her character in and out and can definitely recognize that Neal was not good for Emma because like she said, that he hurt her too many times. That honestly, the most Emma and Neal could be if he hadn’t died were friends and parents. Nothing romantic would ever develop because there’s too much painful history there; especially on Emma’s part. And it takes two to tango. You can’t have a romantic relationship with someone if the other person isn’t fully in it. But Jen recognized a lot this past season in interviews that Killian is good for Emma and we saw her realize this in the finale because they kissed! ‘Ships aside, I really wish Oncers would look at Emma and root for her happiness. If anyone is going to ‘ship Emma with anyone or anything, let it be happiness because at the of the day, I want her to be with someone that makes her happy. And being happy is good. It’s good for your health – so if anything being happy in love will not only make her stronger but psychically stronger as well

Exactly, Agree with EVERYTHING, you’ve pointed out here.
If in the future, CS were to split up as a natural progression of the show (doubtful, but it anything is possible), then as much as all of us would be disappointed in that direction, I’d like to think we’d all still ship Emma & Killian with whomever made them happiest, even if it’s not each other anymore- I dont watch the show because of a ship, I watch because of characters 1st & foremost (so I’d only be in trouble if they ditch the characters I love & invest in).
This is not going to be succinct (I’m over tired), so sorry in advance & I hope I make sense!-
I dont actually think its the shipping as such in the fandom that is causing all the problems anymore, I think it’s the fact that 3 or 4 factions with-in the fandom have been watching the show through their factions ‘rose coloured glasses’ (not exactly the term I;m looking for,but it will do I hope) & so were twisting what was going on, to support their head cannons & emotional views on what “should” be happening & thus totally misinterpreted the entire points of S3A & S3B entirely.
Then when the show spelled it out for them in such a way that not even watching through a factions rose coloured glasses would allow them to ignore what was happening on screen, many collective head cannons & emotions got blown to kingdom come & it came as a shocking surprise with a very bad after taste to those folks… many of which decided to take a leaf out Regina’s book & blame EVERYONE other than themselves for what happened…. because there is no way they could be the ones that have the problem- it has to be a problem with the writing, plot changing, acting, characters ‘OOC’ etc. Because not in a million years could it be them misinterpreting the show due to wearing their factions rose coloured glasses & investing in head cannons & fanfic as factual interpretations of what is happening on show… nope, not at all!
The problems come about when these people get their panties in knot & bent out of shape, then expect others to buy into their delusions on what the show “should” be about by spilling it out into the ‘general/collective’ fandom as a whole- to begin with other fans tried to ignore it, but then many fans have simply got sick & tired of the hate parade & don’t understand what on earth the haters are banging on about, so have been pushing back against all the negativity being tossed about, which then gets the ticked off factions even more bent out of shape, because we should all be agreeing with them, or we aren’t watching the show right, which then stirs up those fans whom haven’t been watching with an agenda & so on & so forth.
This seems to be common when people invest their own political & religious views on fantasy shows, because when you do that, the show becomes an extension of your belief system, which is a seriously dangerous thing to do, as it is not you whom controls what goes on. It’s basically handing a bunch of random strangers whom love to create drama, your beliefs & expecting them to shelter & protect them for you- not a good or intelligent thing to do IMO.
