To be honest, claiming they have a lack of effort bugs me as I think it’s unfair to the writers who devote a good chunk of their lives to creating this show whether we like the end result or not. It sounds cocky- like saying “I could do better than that” when writing for tv is not an easy task at all. We have no idea what the writers actually went through.
I understand that. I just prefer to claim that they are not thinking as far as they should than say that they’ve thought of everything and are still making questionable decisions (In mine own eyes a,t least). I don’t mean to be cocky. But to me it feels like the difference between telling someone that they could do better, and telling them that they have done the best that they can when they’ve made an obvious mistake (again, in my opinion).
I’ve had it happen several times when I’ve just watched a new OuaT and I’m all hyped up about it, and I go online to share my enthusiasm…and everyone hated it! Talk about deflating the balloon! And I guess sometimes that makes me feel bad…like I’ve been wearing too many rose colored glasses or I’m in denial or my opinion is wrong some how. So, I am sorry if I came on too strong. I don’t mean to step on any toes or imply that you shouldn’t analyze the show at all.
I get you. The same thing happened to me. The friend who got me into this show was actually the first person to turn away from it. *shrug*
No need to feel bad about rose colored glasses. They’re a part of the process. It’s just when the show removes them that problems arrive. It doesn’t happen to everyone, though. I apologize if my venting is in any way removing yours. I don’t mean to come on too strong, either. It’s just my style.
