I think Rumple filling up the Hat would set off yet another chain of Events that in the end, he’d be left with a choice….his power or Belle. And then we’d have to see him make a sacrifice. Either we’re going to get Evil To The Core Rumple or Back To Mortal Rumple.
If Rumple does get pushed to the edge, I hope it results in the removal of the dark one curse instead of in tragedy. But of course, Rumple must be willing to let go of his dark one powers completely, or as we saw in Skin Deep, not even TLK will free him. He has to want to be free in order for it to work. Either he’ll be a real hero or a real villain. Boy, this really seems like final season stuff doesn’t it?
