OUaT is becoming the ultimate goofy Disney villain and heroes advertising show, walking well-trodden popculture lanes and ignoring the richness of the global fairy tale worlds, and that has not much of an appeal to me, though it might work perfect for U.S. market. Already didn’t fancy the Neverland arc that much, and was only slightly more interested in the Oz thing, because of Oz being so rich in tales, which they sorely avoided to make any good use of. I liked Victoria Smurfit in Dracula, and guess she will be a great Cruella, but I just don’t care at all about Cruella at this point. It wouldn’t matter that much, if they hadn’t butchered their characters though, what they did in 4×05 was plain awful IMO. This character news doesn’t get me any excited. Looks like I will be able to offer an open spot on my list of interesting shows to watch for this Spring.
(Bolded by me) Seriously, I’m 100% with you on both of those things. If they have to keep up with introducing new characters at such an alarming rate, there are so many other things they could be doing. I was more okay with the Frozen stuff because (a) in all honesty, I just liked that movie and (b) with the “an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart” stuff it felt like that actually fit in with the show. But after almost literally making the animated characters come to life from the latest Disney movie, couldn’t they step back and do something else? I mean they already have Maleficent for at least some of 4B.
And on that subject, I think my one hope for how I might maybe not hate this: she turns her attention from puppies to magical creatures and goes after Maleficent’s mini unicorn (or maybe she now has a whole herd of mini unicorns!), so Maleficent takes her out. I would like that. As long as it didn’t take up too many episodes. Just two or three episodes could still be considered “recurring”, right?
