He’s an old English folklore/tale/legend. They’re not 100% when Robin Hood dates from, but somewhere in 1400-1500s. However, he is set around the time of King John and Richard going off to the Crusades – I’m not sure exactly when that was, I thought 1200s, but my English history isn’t great. I know there is a tree in Sherwood Forest called the Major Oak, which supposedly was planted in Robin Hood’s time and it’s about 800 years old. But there are ballades and odes and poems and stuff dating from around 1400s
