-Henry doesn’t seem to have the ability to do magic. Does this mean that Swanfire wasn’t true love? Perhaps not all true love babies have magic…Philora’s baby, Cinderella’s baby. (Why is Emma so special, then? Why is she the savior?).
Because Rumple used Snowing’s true love as a safety valve on the dark curse, that made Emma the saviour. Not all true love babies are magical, only when it’s convenient.
I don’t think Emma’s Soul Mate/True Love is captain Hook, nor do I think it was Baelfire. I think he (or she!) is yet to come. Maybe King Arthur or Merlin lol. Emma can have one while Regina can give up on Robin and have the other haha.
I agree Emma’s true love isn’t Hook. I would also be very happy if Regina gave up on Robin and found love elsewhere, preferably with someone whose wife or relative she didn’t murder in the past. In regards to Baelfire, I think there is evidence within the show to support that they were true love. What was interesting about them is that they were operating by the real world rules as opposed to the fairytale rules so there was kind of this clash between the two ideologies.
Henry has the heart of the Truest Believer. I’m sure that must mean something even though it was never explored. When Henry was born, there was the whole flickering light thing that also happened when Baby Snowflake was born, and we know that baby snowflakes are indeed true love, so I think that may be an indication. Also, the swan necklace survived the curse that sent everyone back to the EF, and as was said by Belle, it survived because it was born of True Love. There is no other explanation of why that necklace would have gone with neal to to EF other than that. So yes, I truly believe that Neal and Emma were true love and A&E intended them to be shown as such.
There was a lot of things that could’ve been explored in the Neverland arc that never was because of lack of time. Neverland would’ve been perfect for a spinoff because of all those unanswered questions.
Henry had the perfect setup to actually do stuff in Neverland. He had the heart of the truest believer and was in a land that ran on belief. Neverland was Henry’s time to shine and he kind of just sat there as Pan spoon fed him lie after lie. There were lines setting up interesting opportunities that were then wasted. For example, Devin said that Henry was “the most vicious recruit” they had in ages- considering Pan had said some lost boys had lost fingers because of their games, and the worst Henry did was scratch Devin with a sword, this seems like a massive overreaction. Felix told Pan they were “losing the boy”- This would have been the perfect opportunity for Pan to pull out the big guns and really screw with Henry’s head and try and turn him against his family. Instead, Pan just got Wendy to bat her eyelashes at Henry and then he was putty in Pan’s hands. There is no reason why Henry would genuinely ignore the pleads of his dad and two moms in favour of Pan when he was starting to distrust Pan the episode prior. Why would he believe Pan over his parents?
It would be odd for Belle to say so definitively that the necklace was born of true love if that wasn’t intended to be the case. For A&E to come out and then say “that was just Belle’s opinion” seems strange when it could’ve easily been written as Belle offering that as a possible explanation instead of a definitive answer. Neal’s death could’ve actually been “bold storytelling” if the other characters were allowed to actually deal with the repercussions of that and grieve and mourn. But again, wasted opportunities because of limited time.
I think Emma and Hook make great friends. I have always seen the potential friendship chemistry between them but never a serious romantic one. And as the seasons go on I want them to be together less and less. Hook is just…such a *mumbles* >> I don’t think Emma even NEEDS to have a suitor on her arm. But if they must, I would go with just about anyone besides Hook. Hey, maybe we can get A&E to make SwanCricket happen
I completely agree. I prefer Hook and Emma as just friends, there is too many obstacles for them to work out romantically, not least Henry admitting he never liked Hook. Also Hook needs to tell Emma about his past including Milah. Milah isn’t just an ex-partner, she wasNeal’s mother and Henry’s grandmother.
I could ship SwanCricket. Archie’s caring, kind and considerate, Henry likes him, he’s an upstanding member of the community, he’s tried to help both Regina and Rumple in the past who are members of Henry’s family, he took the time to comfort Belle when she was feeling down about Rumple, he encourages people to open up but doesn’t push them into doing things they don’t want to do. Archie seems like quite a decent guy that could offer Emma and Henry stability with his patience and good job. The only question is if Emma would be interested or would she find him not her type.
Going by Emma choices in previous romantic partners, she tends to go for dark haired men with a bit of mystery and danger about them.
I wrote something brilliant about Bobby’s potential departure and then lost it. In essence it was Bobby leaves the show ends.
I agree. Rumple is perhaps the most complicated character on the show, if he leaves then the show would definitely lose one of its strongest assets. I’m rooting for RumBelle to get their happy ending, I don’t want Rumple to die. Screwball Ninja brought up an interesting point in one of her essays. Because the writers made Rumple so powerful, they now have to come up with ways to keep him out of the way so that the “heroes” have to take the time to solve their own problems instead of running to him for help and sorting it quickly. For example, the writers had to have Rumple go off on his own in Neverland because once he actually started working with the others they found Henry and saved him within an episode. Rumple actually found and had Henry with Neal in 304 so of course the writers needed to drag it out to 309. In 3B the writers had to have Rumple enslaved to Zelena because once he was out from under her control, he then went and straight up murdered her. Zelena would’ve been dead a lot sooner if Rumple had been on the loose from the start. In season 4, the writers need Rumple to be the “big bad” because otherwise the heroes don’t have a problem to solve because Rumple would’ve already sorted it. RumBelle had to be split up because there is no way Rumple could be “evil” with Belle constantly acting as his conscience. The writers have realised that Rumple is the magical problem solver on the show and it wouldn’t make sense for the “heroes” not to use him. Therefore every time there is a problem on the show now, Rumple is conveniently unavailable to help in some form or another.
Watcher came up with a good idea in chat last night about doing a 30 days of SwanFire thing.
