I guess that puts Robin in the same camp as David Nolan, when he was cursed to believe he was cheating on his fake wife, Kathryn, with his actual wife, Mary Margaret
To further show how ludicrous the idea of marriage in the EF vs Storybrooke is, technically isn’t David Nolan still not married to Mary Margret? They are different people and according to US law they aren’t married. We know they are married, but what do the records say? Maybe they fixed all of that when Snow’s curse was cast.
Ummm….he technically followed his code because he was going against it by not living by it, one of his codes were to live truthfully and honestly which he said so himself in 4×11 when he was talking to Regina about teaching Roland, and he recognized that he was basically going against his own code by staying with Marian, which would be living a lie, aka, against his code.
I agree with this. It all seemed to be a case of higher truths. His initial reaction is, oh I made this vow I have to follow it (regardless to how unfair it is to all parties involved). I can understand him doing some soul searching and coming to a different conclusion about what his code really meant to him. That seems human.
As far as being a villain, I think Robin Hood represents someone who is on a ‘redemption’ arc. We just haven’t seen what he was like beforehand. With Regina we’ve seen her at her worst and now she’s starting the journey Robin Hood has already been on.
