Finally got caught up for this week.
I thought this was a much better episode than what we’ve seen in a long time. I enjoy the Ogre; I’d be more than okay if he was a villain for a season or half a season. He’s compelling, he’s genuinely scary, and he’s played by Milo! He’s been far more successful than the Scarecrow, or the Joker, who I fear might never resurface. He makes realize that this show could be something really good if it just slowed down on trying to cram as much into one season as possible. He actually made Barbara interesting! Well, more interesting at least, a feat I thought would be impossible. I would really like it she just went full on psycho and then went on a killing spree with the Ogre. But of course, they went and killed him. Because I can’t have anything good on this show.
The rest of plots were more or less “meh.” I did enjoy Nygma’s story this week. I really wish the writers would give him more to do; I find him just as fun to watch as Penguin, though in the latter’s case, he’s starting to bore me since they just keep him rather static and stationary. Though, at least, this week something was finally *done* The letter from Nygma was cute.
Baby Batman…I just don’t care. I want to. But i just don’t.
Really could have done without the seemingly random BDSM club scene. I don’t have a problem with sex on TV or even “kinky” sex but it has to feel relevant and not like it’s just for shock value (like the sound of an electric saw and a squealing pig in the background)
And I’ve said this before but Ben McKenzie is just bored/boring in this role. “I thought it was my devastating good look….that was a joke.” But yet it was delivered flatly and without any sense or humor. I almost snooze when he’s on screen.
