Poetic, yes. But logically complicated — if Lily is now the receptacle of Emma’s original darkness, and Emma’s blood is used to react with it, then it suggests that goodness can only exist after darkness has been subtracted out, and therefore cannot exist on its own.
That’s true…thought, it’s hard for me to imagine that A and E would think that one through.
has never seen the Matrix* so just so ican understand this analogy…would it also be a good comparison to say that Emma is like a Slayer. There have been many before her and there will be more after her, she’s isn’t the first, just another one. Or nah?
Yes, sort of. Though the emphasis would be put on the fact that there are no more after Emma. She breaks the paradigm. She “fixes” the universe so that goodness prevails. Not to say that there won’t be any thing bad in the world anymore, but rather as the fully realized cosmological Savior she has done what no Savior before her could do–put down the darkness.
Buffy’s ending is a bit unique (but that’s because Joss Whedon is a god among men and we are not worthy of him). She’s still the Slayer but she is joined by other Slayers; she awakens the hero in others. Whereas, in the end, only Neo could stop Agent Smith and bring about the lasting change. Trinity was there, and Morpehus put him on the path, but it could only be Neo who brought balance.
