About the second sneak peek, I think Snow is right about David being desperate to feel like a hero again. However, he’s just a pawn in King Arthur’s game. Something tells me that Merlin is in that tree for a reason; perhaps Arthur entrapped his old friend in there with some sort of magical device, precisely because Merlin warned Kid!Emma NOT to remove Excalibur from the sword of else “bad things would happen.” So the removal of Excalibur by Arthur the first time might’ve actually been a really foreboding, bad thing. Now, Arthur is using David to try and reunite the sword hilt with the dagger, which also seems like a really bad idea.
