They’ve planted many seeds and promised to water them with nothing following. We still don’t know how Phillip got his soul back, and that story we were promised. Will’s presence in Storybrooke post-Wonderland DEMANDED explanation that we never got (and probably won’t). And let’s see…Rumbelle, which compared to a LOT of promises is pretty visible at least…well, we get told their story will be explored and they had basically a cameo in the two hour special. They’re even regulars. (Yeah, we got DO Rumple Vision but that’s NOT THE SAME CHARACTER.)
OUAT often feels like the wasteland of missed opportunities to me. I love so much of what they do…but so often they reach for the next shiny thing instead of fulfilling the brilliant promises they make, utilizing the excellent cast members they recruit, and really telling vibrant stories that are character-driven and have the maximum impact.
