Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of sass and sarcasm. And Hook, at times. And I definitely agree that being trapped anywhere can lead to frustration and regrettable outbursts…. in fact I would have enjoyed if Hook’s remarks had lead to some frustration/outbursts from Emma and Regina too… everyone is tired but it seemed out that nobody, besides Henry, bit back on Henry’s behalf.
I think for me it comes down to a) that they are in this mess because of Hook and b) Henry’s age. It’s one thing to ‘Sparkly Dirt’ Cora (which, still a great line IMO), but if it had been Bailee Madison (as an example) trying to come up with a plan after Hook got them purgatoried on that beach… and after a few episodes of Hook seeking contrition for that very action…. he then snips at the kid who’s trying to help?
Narratively, I can understand if it stemmed from a sense of guilt about what he’s done to this kid in general… but at best that makes it seem like he’s acting out on another person what he doesn’t like about himself (not okay) and at worst….. he’s being an oblivious pissant to legitimately the only innocent character in this mess (really really not okay).
