In fact, Hook only won by default because Neal was taken out of the equation. Emma never actively chose Hook on his own merits, she ended up with him because her choice had been taken away.

Because Emma would never have chosen Hook if Neal had been around. She had a stronger emotional bond with Neal. We know it, the writers know it and deep down CSers know it, that’s why there are CSers who are still threatened whenever Neal’s name comes up like that comment section on that article.
