I found it amusing that Red discovered she belonged with a fiesty, crossbow-wielding lady who is fiercely protective of her canine companions. Reminds me of a certain elderly relative back in Storybrooke!
On a more serious note, there were two serious drawbacks for me. Firstly, it seemed way too rushed. Secondly, Red/Mulan made more sense – to me, anyway. It really seemed like they intended to go with Red Warrior and changed their minds after The Bear King.
What I did like was how they imbued the relationship with a sense of playfulness and tenderness. It was nice to see, given how often LGBT relationships are over-sexualized on TV.
