Okay, real talk. We all knew this episode was coming and what was going to happen. There seems to be a theory that the final three episodes of a season go off the rails (certainly did for S5A) and I don’t think this is any exception. It’s a shame not only because of the totally unnecessary death of Robin but also because I had really been enjoying Hades and the Underworld story (messy and under developed as the world building was). A charismatic character makes up for a lot but so much of this episode was just….bad. It sucks that an arc that started out pretty promising and pretty interesting managed to stumble across its finish line, broken and bruised.
LIKED
–“Hello there.” Say what you want about this season (and I’ll be saying a lot after tonight), but Hades has been spectacular.
–“He’s not a man; he’s a god!” Someone finally remembered this vital piece of information.
–“For you, I’d give up anything.” I hate myself for really liking Zades, but I do.
–Regina and Robin going through the secret tunnel into the Mayor’s house is pretty reminiscent of their moment in “Witch Hunt.”
–Can we just have a Cruella show?
–“I’ve had a few 1000 years to dwell on it.”
–The arrows on the roses are a nice touch
MIXED
–The Arthur/Hook quest. Those two are so scary alike (possessive, obsessive) and it’s highlighted here, but I don’t like either character so I don’t really want to see their little adventure.
DISLIKED
–“I’ve come to explain to everyone that Hades has changed!” How exactly does one explain something like this?
–Anytime Arthur appears I can feel my skin crawl. And he like randomly died??
–This is a [Magical MacGuffin] that I’ve had this whole time but kept in pocket for inexplicable reasons and now I get to use it!
–The Olympian Crystal is not a real thing.
–Moe refuses to give Belle TLK until Rumple leaves the picture. The parents on this show are appalling. All of them.
–‘We all have the capability to change!” (Now let’s go steal back my daughter from the Wicked Witch and Lord of the Underworld) (Contradictions!)
–“You’re my future” This is the kiss of death for Robin.
–Lost Souls are scared of fire! Who knew!
–I’m sorry but Hook magicked the pages into the book in SB….how???
–So lemme get this straight…Robin just doesn’t exist anymore? No moving on. No “heaven” no better place….NOTHING? But Hook, a mass murderer, gets to live? Okay.
–True Love means giving up everything for the person you love. This is a HORRIBLE message. I don’t care if it’s a fairy tale show. It’s a horrible message. Robin has children–TWO of them. TWO. But apparently his sacrifice was necessary because of true love! You have two children, Robin. TWO. But yet you tell Hades “kill me instead!” My god.
–Emma Swan, Cosmic Savior, plays absolutely no role in taking down Hades. Instead it’s just whoever stabs the Lord of the Underworld with a glowy object.
–Zeus resurrects Hook for reasons! Why? Someone tell me why. I’m not being anti-Hook or anti-CS but this is nonsense. Hook still did great evil and all he did for “good” was put some pages in a book. I mean are you kidding me? That’s it? That’s what gets you blessed by a god and returned to earth?
–What a total and complete waste of Zeus! We didn’t even get a flashback of Hades and Zeus!
–They named the baby Robin. I am so shocked, guys. Like so shocked.
–Tacky and heartless make out scene at a funeral during “goodbye” for another character. “I don’t caer how you’re back; just that you’re back!” Plz, go to a room and do this. So tacky.
–“This is my kingdom” For gods sake Rumple!
