Ok, honestly asking here. But does what Emma say about TLK (ignoring the ins and outs of Rumbelle and the fact that Emma shouldn’t know what’s going on with that couple) make sense?

Can you lose True Love? If a couple goes through a rough patch–even to the point of splitting–do you lose this cosmic (and yes, ill-defined) true love? Are we supposed to be static, never evolving people? Yes, we hope not to grow into bad people but people do change slowly over time, through life circumstances. Let’s say Emma is right (for this argument) and Belle doesn’t want to be with Rumple anymore; this doesn’t mean that Belle doesn’t still love Rumple. We know she does. We know she loves him a great deal but can’t condone some of his actions (in spite of the whole “the darkness always wins” ending of Her Handsome Hero)

I dunno. I’m bothered by the fact that the most powerful magic of all and one of the defining magics in the show is so confusing and ill defined.
