This is why the writers don’t get to decide what is canon. They just don’t. The aired episodes of the show are canon, nothing else ever is. This is one of the reasons why. What the writers say is inconsistent. They change their mind. I haven’t seen half the scenes you just mentioned and i get on a board about this show. The general audience has never seen this scenes. They are not canon. They never have been.
It is annoying for the writers to change their mind, but it was annoying for them to try to hoist their cliff notes onto the show as well. I shouldn’t have to watch deleted scenes or interviews or read their tweets to understand the show.
