Whilst the mirror theory does make sense – I don’t see why they would announce his involvement at this point if he was just going to be doing green screen work. This is the sort of return that they could have hidden and thrown in as a genuine shock for the audience, because Sean wouldn’t be doing street scenes and potentially having pictures taken of him. This alone makes me think that he will not be confined to the mirror.
True but it’s not just mirrors that Sydney that project himself on to. It was any reflective surface–so a shop window in SB for example. And that would require outdoor work if they needed a genuine outdoor scene (as opposed to the recreated Steveston on a sound stage).
