It was steady. No drop. AOS finale ends on a cliffhanger. OUAT’s does not according to Adam and Eddy. They said it could work as a series finale, so that’s why many think they could renew AOS instead of OUAT.
Sure. But it doesn’t seem as cut and dry. As the Reaper reminds us
The little engine that could is currently ABC’s 4th lowest rated show. https://t.co/CWIZiwuHMa

So they could do one of three things:
1) renew both–with Notorious, Conviction, Time After Time, and probably Secrets and Lies, Quantico, and American Crime Story being cancelled (and Designated Survivor slipping quite a bit in its freshman year), ABC needs a few oldies to hold the network steady.
2) Cancel both–this is the tricky one because there are already quite a few shows that have gotten the ax; both OUAT and AoS are House of Mouse which has a lot of merch tie ins but both shows are showing signs of aging and while they might have good loyal fanbases, they aren’t as extensive as they once were.
3) Cancel one, but not both: ratings wise, both are holding steady with minor (.1) drops. The hype of the OUAT musical did not pay off but it was still higher than AoS most recent episode and is still the highest rated non-Shondaland, non-freshman show.
