1) What was your favorite episode of S7A? Runner up?
Favorite: By far “Beauty.” What a heart wrenching and beautiful episode! Bobby and Emilie knocked it out of the park and even though it was brief and in flashback only, the fact that the writers shows that Rumple could let go of magic and the dagger for the love of his life….exactly what I’ve wanted for years!
Runner up: Wake Up Call
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7A? Runner up?
Least Favorite: “The Eighth Witch;” ye gods, what a mess. There was almost nothing I like about this episode and was mostly grinding my teeth through it all. It was a convoluted mess and apart from Alice and Drizella I find that I don’t like any of these new character or at least have no reason to be invested in them.
Runner up: A Pirate’s Life
3) We met a lot of new characters! Who was your favorite? Least favorite?
Alice is by a long mile my favorite. More Alice. Always. She is quirky, weird, but somehow sweet and interesting. I wish she was Rumple’s daughter instead of WR!Hook’s, though. She’s got the Stiltskin vibe to her. Also, I’m interested to see this relationship with Robyn. I hope the writers do it more justice than they did with RubySlippers.
Least Favorite: Jacinda! What a big BLAH she is. Cinderella honestly isn’t much better. I hate that they cast a Latina actress but aren’t actually incorporating any Latina culture, dress, ect. They just want her to be Latina so they can say “diversity!” Also, I try to be respectful of the actors on the show but the actress playing Jacinda, while not helped by the writing, does very little with the role that makes me even want to care about her.
4) Who do you miss the most from the first six seasons?
Honestly, I miss the town of Storybrooke the most. By the end, it did feel like a ghost town at times but it was small and quaint and charming. Hyperion Heights feels too sprawled and unlived in. It doesn’t have the same uniqueness that SB did.
5) What was your favorite moment of S7A? Least favorite?
Favorite: Probably Rumple throwing the dagger to the ground when Belle says she wants to build their house the old fashioned way. I honestly cried.
Least favorite: I dunno; any part of the winter finale I guess. Especially when magical MacGuffins rear their while-elephant-magic-from-a-witch-who-crushed-the-heart-of-the-thing-she-loved-most head.
6) What storyline would you change if you could?
I cut down on characters. We don’t need Nick and we honestly don’t need Treamine because she was just a red herring and while those are useful for misdirection, her story wasn’t satisfying enough to make it worth it, IMO. I would also ditch the whole “Eloise Gardener” aspect of Roger’s character.
7) What are you hoping for in S7B?
For the show to wrap up. I know that’s harsh but…it’s time. And I suppose barring that, I really just want the show to cut back on some of its destructive tendencies (too many characters, too many plots, too many twists that don’t make sense) and just focus on the characters and their lives.
8) Rate and/or grade S7A as a whole!
I’m torn between a C and a C-
There are bright spots but I don’t think they outweigh the bad.
