I predict For the People is going to flop, as it appears to have little buzz, is in the infamous Tuesday 10pm deathslot, doesn’t have its Shondaland companions on TGIT to help it, has a weakened Black-ish as its lead-in for its premiere, and its premiere is going right up against the premiere of NBC’s Rise, which will have the This Is Us finale as its lead-in.
Peaking back in on this…
Series premiere for “For The People”: .8 in the demo/ 3.22 million eyeballs. Black-ish did a .9/.8 so while you can make the argument that FtP kept its audience that’s still pretty bad for a series premiere. Rather DoA, honestly. Wonder if it’ll be pulled off air after a few episodes.
However, the NBC “Rise” premiere also crashed pretty hard, coming in with a 1.2 after “This Is Us”‘s 2.8 and this was despite the immense amount of promotion that went into the new series.
Another whiff for ShondaLand? For the People bows to an anemic 3.22 million viewers and a 0.8 in the demo. If ratings don't miraculously improve, this will be the studio's third straight bust, following The Catch and Still Star-Crossed.
