The acting is pretty bad on Chicago Fire, as is the writing at some times. They have only recently had a female fire fighter where it actually stuck instead of having a female character become a firefighter and then get bumped back to the ambulance so that she wasn’t working for her husband. They killed their only LGBT character in an early season. Having a black, male commander is the only thing it has going for it. I already like the main character from Station 19, they had a Grey’s episode with her on it, more then any of the characters on Chicago Fire.
We will see what they do, but they are already trying to be more inclusive on Station 19, from what i have read, and Station 19 has a much greater chance of being character driven which is what makes a show good, in my opinion. The writers of Grey’s and Scandal and How to get away with murder are at least trying to create characters with personalities and then having them make decisions about what is happening around them and then have that drive the plot, instead of it all just being plot, plot, plot no choices, no character growth, like a lot of shows.
