I think in one of the official podcasts, they said that the idea of if one person can only have one true love is something that they want to explore (and maybe about that being sad if it was the case but don’t quote me on that part).
In terms of people falling in love with opposites or similar people to them, in psychology there is both. We generally fall in love in terms of similarity– the match between our interests, background, attitudes, and values and those of the other person. However, people can become bored with this. And it is often the case that we have propinquity with them, we come across them more often, and have more opportunities to fall in love with them.
When we fall in love with those that are our opposites it initially seems exciting and interesting, but can become problematic. However, if you develop similar interests then this is no longer the case.
Took this out of my social psychology textbook on interpersonal attraction. Whether this is relative to this show or not I’m not sure. However I hope that for example, Hook and Regina can find another true love.. because if not then its just going to be depressing lol
