A new interview with Lana Parrilla:

Once Upon a Time fans already know that Regina (Lana Parrilla) will lose her magical powers Season 2, Episode 1: “Broken” (airing September 30), but will the Evil Queen ever gain her powers back? Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Lana Parrilla at the 2012 Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy Party in West Hollywood to talk about Regina’s powers and her relationship with Mr. Gold.

Wetpaint Entertainment: How do you think Regina has changed since season 1?
Lana Parrilla: I think we are going to see her in a very different life this season. She’s on the path to redemption! She’s tried every avenue and it doesn’t quite work the same anymore.

We know that she loses her powers in the premiere, does she get them back?
Well, she gains a different kind of power, not the one that you so think. She’s almost enlightened in a different way. It’s quite interesting.

Can you give us any scoop on Regina and Mr. Gold’s backstory?
Oh God!! You know I think they are two peas in a pod. I think they love each other and they hate each other.

Does Regina have any friends left in Storybrooke?
No. Zero.
