Great topic! Breaking Bad is one of my favorite TV shows and I can’t help but see extremely strong parallels between Rumple and Walter White’s character arcs. Both start out similarly: meek, soft-spoken, gentle and somewhat bullied. Both start with the intention of protecting/providing for their families, which goes terribly wrong. Both eventually begin embracing their power and role as Heisenberg/Dark One. And, while this hasn’t been entirely confirmed in Breaking Bad, I’m pretty sure both end up losing their families as a result.
OMG. OMG. OMG. No you didn’t just bring up Breaking Bad! I worship that show! I completely agree. Rumpel/Gold is very much like Walter White. It’s almost eerie how similar they are. 😮 .
Isn’t it, though? These two Walt moment just scream Rumple to me.
The first is his infamous “I’m the man who knocks” speech. “I am not in danger. I am the danger. A guy opens his front door and gets shot… you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks.”

This second one, “say my name” is so similar to Rumple’s “what’s my name” moment with the guards in “Desperate Souls” that it’s eerie!

Glad to find a fellow fan on these boards. This show is making the wait for Season 5, part 2, bearable 🙂
