I think Rumplestiltskin is at the center of this entire world, and it’s his plot for whatever purpose. He has been behind every piece of powerful magic used, with the exception of the quill used to trap him. I’m not sure who enchanted the tree they used to take Emma to the other world. Now we know that some magic has carried over with the Evil Queen and her hearts. But Rumplestiltskin’s power was placed in check, when he used the Blue Faerie’s quill to sign Cinderella’s contract. I’m wondering what would break that spell, and he seemed to know he was being trapped and let it happen. It may all be a plot by Rumplestiltskin to get to the Blue Faerie.
