I wouldn’t worry about Mr. Gold manipulating Emma too much. The scene in The Cricket Games where he helps her with the dreamcatcher felt more like a deus ex machina situation rather than anything we should be concerned about. I think the main thing Mr. Gold will use Emma for is getting out of Storybrooke. And since I’m almost certain Neal will turn out to be Baelfire, I don’t think Rumpel would purposely harm the woman Nealfire loves.
