I’ve never said Bae would be a normal balanced man, but neither the way Neal is.
Neal is broken, but he is also innocent, he doesn’t seem to be a person who has been in contact with such traumatic events, he is broken in the sense of being lost, with a huge lack of affection and looking for hope, while Bae would be darker, distrustful… a person who probably tries to forget about his pass without success, to become totally different of what his father wanted for him.
Give me a depressed soldier who always risks his life in battlefield, a wrestler, or something similar, and I would vote for him being Baelfire. (by the way, a 14-15 years old guy who can work with wool and wood is more skilled to get a proper job in this world than lots of my High School mates who left studies at that same age)
